Blind or French caning is another incredibly labour intensive process, a technique used when the holes around the edge of the chair frame do not go all the way through. It is usually found on high quality chair backs as there are no unsightly loops visible on the reverse of the chair.  It is a very time consuming process where each strand of cane is cut to the exact length and glued into place with a tiny spot of wood glue. Not a job for the impatient!
